On 27 September 2013 joint VU - ITC promovendus Chandra Prasad Ghimire (30) from Nepal received the ITC Research Award 2012 - a prize for the best scientific paper by an ITC PhD student in 2012.
Chandra received the award for his paper The effects of sustained forest use on hillslope soil hydraulic conductivity in the Middle Mountains of Central Nepal published in Ecohydrology (doi: 10.1002/eco.1367).
The cheque with a value of € 1.000,- handed out by Rector Veldkamp was received by Chandra's co-promotor Dr. Maciek Lubczynski (photo) since both Chandra -himself and his promotor Sampurno Bruijnzeel were in Dehradun (India) at the time to present the work to a broader audience at the Asia Pacific Workshop on Forest Hydrology.
