Research questions
- How do montane forest floristic composition and structure change with elevation within the fog-affected Serra da Mantiqueira of Eastern Brazil?
- How do various hydrometeorological factors (temperature, humidity, radiation, and in particular fog intensity and duration) vary with elevation? What environmental factors influence the high beta diversity of these forests the most: edaphic factors (soil characteristics including acidity and degree of water-logging) or climatic ones (notably fog inputs)?
- How do rainfall and cloud water (fog) interception differ between forests located beneath and within the cloud belt?
